Uniondale is a hamlet home in the town of Hempstead bordering Roosevelt, Freeport, East Meadow, and Garden City. The community was small and quiet until the opening of Mitchell Field which is now the Hofstra University and the Nassau Community College.
Uniondale School District serves the area with 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school. It is also home to the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League and the New York Islanders of the NHL.
