Uniondale is a hamlet home in the town of Hempstead bordering Roosevelt, Freeport, East Meadow, and Garden City. The community was small and quiet until the opening of Mitchell Field which is now the Hofstra University and the Nassau Community College.
Uniondale School District serves the area with 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school. It is also home to the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League and the New York Islanders of the NHL. There are several services, shops, churches, restaurants, and bars in the area as well as organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and the Nassau County Department for Senior Citizens.
Attractions of course are the sports teams and the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum offering concerts and large events as well as team sports. Eisenhower Park, Jones Beach, Long Island Children’s Museum, and The Cradle of Aviation are also popular attractions.
